Animal Rights. United Animal
Nations, an animal advocacy organization, was founded in 1987 by a small
core group of animal lovers. No one was organized on a massive scale to
rescue them. At first UAN's emphasis on saving animal victims of disaster
made some media reporters angry. "How can you save animals when
people are in danger?" But they challenged the ethic that said animal
life was worthless, and created the Emergency Animal Rescue Service
(EARS). Since 1987, they've rescued thousands of animals in over 45
disasters and trained more than 1,700 volunteer rescue workers across the
country. |
